Leukaemia

Published on Circulatory system, Immune system.

Leukaemia often involves fever, weariness, and swelling of glands. The person who suffers from leukaemia is pale, thin, diminished, and without defences.

Leukaemia originates in the bone marrow and lymphatic system. The marrow is the part of the body where maturation of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets takes place. Platelets and blood cells are directly related to blood, that is, to the person’s identity. This identity is constantly developing, it is in permanent movement. It is possible to change who we are. In fact, these cells and platelets change every one hundred and twenty days.

Blood shows the unique identity of the person that incarnated in earthly duality, but it also shows the person’s connection to a lineage, a family, and a clan.

Therefore, what is at stake here is a person’s connection with a group of ancestors (through contact with the family), while maintaining an individual identity.

Here, in the marrow, we witness an extreme conflict of undervaluation. “In the eyes of my people, I’m not worth anything!”

When the individual feels this immense undervaluing, the number of the three types of blood components, red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets is reduced (this bears no resemblance to anaemia), to give way, shortly afterwards, to an explosion of growth, of normalness, an exaggerated tendency to go back to the balance the person failed to find. This is when leukaemia occurs. The individual gets more white cells and fewer red cells. The person feels increased aggression and less oxygen, less life within him. The person destroys himself and wishes to kill a part of himself. This is a non-conscious process and the immense undervaluing feeling is never verbalized. Due to the fact that this has its origins in the bone marrow and in the lymphatic system, it can be said the person’s deepest structures have been profoundly shaken. They were indeed shaken, as the tension concerns lineage, the family, the clan (it is advisable to read Family). Leukaemia is a type of blood cancer. Leukaemia is, thus, deeply associated to lack of self-esteem.

A person who undervalues himself wants to be helped. He wishes to be taken care of, as if he was a child.

However, we should not spoil him, otherwise he will never assume responsibility for his own actions. We need to help him look after himself. If we deal with the person suffering from leukaemia as if he was a baby, we will be proving him right and reinforcing the undervaluing feeling he has about himself. It is vital that the person suffering from leukaemia is authorised to express his tensions regarding his family. He urgently needs to verbalize his feelings of being prevented from being himself. However, when a person suffers from leukaemia, it is precisely the family who wants to assist him. And the family spoils the person, through loving, protection and feelings of deep sorrow. This is understandable, but will not help the person in question. The family has great difficulty understanding that the problem lies precisely in the way of thinking of the family itself. Therefore, theb family will not help the sick person to verbalize what he feels regarding the family and its thinking pattern. This family, feeling impotent, ends up giving this person away to an extremely aggressive treatment, chemotherapy, which seldom has good results and only increases the person’s lack of responsibility, given that it makes the person even more dependent on others than before, instead of assuming responsibility. In fact, the person continues to receive the message, from the doctors, not just from relatives, that he is in good hands and that they will look after him. He then concludes that, actually, he does not need to look after himself.

The leukaemia patient has a tremendous need to be aware of the tension he lives in and to verbalize it to anyone involved in it, particularly those who are part of the family and of the lineage.

Only on rare occasions is it possible to make the individual aware of this, because the person is too deeply rooted in family, religious or old beliefs of his clan.
