In the animal world, the tongue is the first thing that touches food. The tongue tastes food and it acts as a conduit to take liquids in, such as water. The tongue recognizes food. Tongue related problems are associated to the capacity to differentiate good from bad, and to enjoy life, living it tastefully.

In the beginning, it was enough to distinguish between sweetness and bitterness. Nowadays, things are much more complicated. Flavours are no longer natural. Differentiating has become more difficult, in all aspects.

The tongue also captures the spoken word. And, socially speaking, the tongue plays an increasingly major role as a kissing tool. The so-called French kiss represents the capacity to taste life’s flavours with joy.
