Anger

Published on Useful concepts.

It is a concentrated energy, a yang energy. When I feel angry, I feel I may end up attacking the other person. For this reason, the sympathetic nervous system prepares for this, for the fight, resorting to adrenalin. As a result, energy rises to the neck, shoulders, up the back and the arms and provides a lot of irrigation to the brain. The person loses his senses.

People who have accumulated anger feel chronic tension on their shoulders, necks and arms.

There are three solutions to deal with anger:

1) To annul one-self and pretend everything is ok, and so get stuck in the illusion that the cause has been sorted out.

2) To follow an even more yang path, playing a sport like punching boxing bags, play rugby or even hit someone.

3) To follow a yin path and cry our heart out, thus becoming completely aware of our feelings.

The first solution does not solve anything and makes the person accumulate anger, something that could cause problems later.

The second solution resolves the effect but not the cause, and makes the person increasingly more depending on that violent activity, which gives him the illusion of emptying his aggressiveness. What the person does not realise is that his aggressiveness is being nurtured, and, for this reason, growing.

The third solution resolves the cause. The person empties his anger batteries through awareness and observation of himself, becoming more genuine and more self mastered. The propensity for anger diminishes.

When anger is of the chronic type and never lived through, the parasympathetic nervous system (the system that regulates the automatic functioning of the majority of internal organs) has little opportunity to come into action, because the sympathetic system (which regulates adrenalin) is extremely active. The parasympathetic is thus unable to regulate the functioning of the body’s vital systems that depend on it.

Anger is directly associated to gallbladder problems. Consequently, and by extension, the liver is also involved.

Symptoms may include: headache, pain in the eyes, sciatica, pain in the legs, pain on the shoulders, lack of energy, lack of determination, absence of sexual energy, irritation, impatience and digestive disturbances.
