Menopause

Published on Reproductive system.

Menopause means profound hormonal change.

Menopause is a stage of reassessment of a woman’s life project. To reach the age of 50, in Hebrew, means jubilee, happiness.

Menopause tells a woman that she can no longer have children. Consequently, this means the loss of an exclusively feminine capacity. However, it also marks the passage to a wiser stage in her life.

A woman’s sexual past and the form she lived her sexuality are important in the way the woman will deal with the changes that will take place in her body. The body change is as dramatic as the one she went through when she reached puberty.

It is common for women to become anxious, unstable, and to lose energy. This is part of adapting to this new stage in life. It is also usual for women to experience heat flushes and to have their last menstrual haemorrhages. These are part of the woman’s last body and conscience upheavals before accepting this new stage in life.

Heat flushes also denote the still existing body’s sexual drive, that continues, and which must be accepted and experienced, since there is no reason for it to disappear.

Menopause is part of a process of losing part of femininity and, for this reason, is a yang process. In other words, the woman becomes more masculine.

In fact, what the contraceptive pill, which many women take, actually does is to block out their feminine brain (by blocking estrogens) and act like a sort of small menopause.

It is important that a woman undergoing menopause makes up for this loss of femininity by adopting a more feminine and delicate attitude to life. Above all, it is important that she realises that her sexual drive has not been reduced at all. The menopausal woman should live her sexuality in full.

The osteoporosis process that menopausal women experience has nothing to do with menopause itself, rather with the person’s own undervaluation. Some women who reach menopause believe they are no longer worthy and, consequently, undervalue themselves. These are women whose past rested more on their motherhood role than on their role as women, and who threw their feminine female function to the background. This may also happen to women whose sexuality has always been repressed as, in their view, sexuality was only used to procreate.

African women who stop being fertile cease to have a reproductive function and may join the council of the sage. The clan interests them again. They may start using their two brains and not just the feminine side of it. A woman such as this will not develop osteoporosis, because she does not feel undervalued. As it is, she feels valued.

Certain health professionals deal with menopause as if it was a disease. But it is not. It is an extremely natural process and should not manifest itself through symptoms in women.

This moment of badly experiencing menopause may also be an open door to breast cancer.
