Hernia

Published on Locomotor system.

Hernias may be of many different types: inguinal (groin), umbilical, epigastric (stomach area), incisional (following surgery), femoral (hip/thigh), and hiatal (oesophagus), just to mention a few.

The most commonly referred to is the hernia that consists of a bulge or exposure of an internal organ of the body due to the weakening of the muscle cavity or aponeuroses (aponeuroses are the envelopes that cover the muscles) that surround it. The exposure of that organ may happen through a natural cavity or one that results from an accident and it may happen in several different areas of the body.

The organ shifts from its usual place. It shows that the person is undervaluing and abusing himself. He is trying to solve problems that he does not want to face, resorting to dubious creativity, seeking solutions which do not work, doing everything possible to avoid the people and circumstances he must face. The questions he must face vary according to the type and location of the hernia. See the organs affected by the hernias in question.

The discal hernia has nothing to do with this type of hernia. See Discal hernia
