Arms as upper limbs

Published on Locomotor system.

The arms ensure mobility, flexibility, the activity of pursuing objectives and attaining them.

They allow us to go to (someone, somewhere), touch, catch, hold, push, embrace, clasp, asphyxiate or close.

They are action vectors in the sense of dominance, power and strength and, above all, choice.

They allow us to go from theory to practice. They are the extension of the shoulders, which are part of the yang waist, male waist, symbolized by the Father.

This is the place where the body expresses itself regarding what his objectives really are and what it does in order to achieve them.

Symptoms in the arms reflect undervaluing tensions in our will to act upon the external or the inner world.

The sense of accomplishment flows from the shoulder to the hand (from the least concrete to the more concrete).

At the outset, our right arm is yang (male) and the left is yin (female). This applies to both right and left-handed people. However, we must not forget that we are dealing with the more yang, more male side of the body and that polarity in the locomotor system is not always obvious. Problems in the arm reveal the presence of tensions and difficulties at the time of acting.

Problems affecting the yang arm denote undervaluing and inflexibility [due to the influence of a third person (a man?) or due to own beliefs]. The individual wants to go further than what is reasonable. He will insist, be stubborn, a fighter, somehow aggressive. His objectives blind him. He will not, therefore, attain what he wanted, and will feel undervalued as a result.

Problems in the yin arm represent undervaluing and inflexibility [due to the influence of a third person (a woman?) or due to own beliefs]. The person’s sensitivity is hurt in the process of attaining his goal. As a result, he feels undervalued

The connection to what we want to reach in order to attain our goals lies in the arms.

Arm problems may occur at the level of the muscles, bones or skin. Depending on the type of lesion, it is advisable to see Shoulder, Arm, Elbow, Forearm, Wrist, Hands and Fingers. In the concrete case of amputation, see Amputation. In case of paralysis, see Paralysis and Partial paralysis.
