Depression

Published on Nervous system.

The word depression comes from the Latin deprimo, meaning to subdue and to repress. Depression is guilt. It manifests itself through a wide range of symptoms, such as tiredness, insomnia, constipation, headache, palpitations, backache, alterations in the menstrual cycle, lack of muscular tonicity. (You may look up these topics separately).

Guilt, which is the same as saying a violence turned inwards, has its causes in something that took place outside the person, with someone or something (normally, with people who are very close). And because the person cannot solve nor even face up to this conflict he has with the outside, he blames that need for aggressiveness he feels towards others and turns it inwards. Depression is a subtle way of suicide. At the same time he is depressed, the person manages to shun and get out of his responsibilities and not act, merely vegetating.

The depressed person is confronted to renunciation, loneliness, isolation, old age (if we are dealing with an old person) and even death (the death of a close person may provoke this type of depressive attitude in people), but he will always do it in a repressed form.

Depression is, after all, a fabulous sign from the body. It clearly shows the person that he does not know (or does not want to) how to face life and, above all, the living people. And also, that he does not want to confront death either. This leaves him in a limbo that is difficult to describe and within which many people take refuge.

A girl who loses her boyfriend and blames it on her self may develop a feeling of undervaluing and guilt. She turns inwards. She becomes depressed. Depression is the result of the combination of undervaluing and guilt. Of course we are not referring to depression associated to disease, but to depression in itself.

The person who is suffering from depression may have problems in the pineal gland. He will be a person with serious disturbances at the level of direction, the path he should take in his life, as well as at the level of humbleness and authority. This person has a major problem in the relationship he has with his biological Father or with his man model, or with the boyfriend, husband or boss. He is a very mentally oriented person, extremely rational, who wants to solve everything by himself, who thinks he knows all the answers and believes he should be in charge.

He leaves no room for intuition.

The ultimate form of depression is pride. This happens when the person is extremely proud of what he has done or does, and not of whom he is. The person who can only define himself by what he did or does and not by whom he is, is undergoing a huge undervaluing process, without realizing it. This is because the person, in fact, does not value anything about who he is. Only what he does or did. In this case, the relatives may have to take the burden of carrying the weight of the undervaluing of the person who is undervaluing himself. Why? Because they feel guilty for not being able to help the person or because they feel they are accomplices in the process, which creates in them a huge feeling of guilt. This means that they will also become depressed, not just the undervalued person.

Depressed people are false kind people.

The state of depression is, in short, a condition of chronic sadness. In other words, it becomes an ongoing process because the patient finds this state of sadness advantageous. These are the advantages that it is necessary to uncover (It is very necessary to discover this side pleasure they find in being depressed) in the patient suffering from depression. It may be the pleasure of having someone looking after him, or the pleasure of preventing the other person from going about his life in order to be tied to him.
