Neck

Published on Locomotor system.

The neck supports the head and is the link between the head and the torso. It corresponds to the passage of concepts, ideas, wishes and will (all coming from the brain) to practice (action, fulfilment, expression, relation). The neck is a passage. Not yet the action itself. The neck precedes the action and the mental formation of the action.

The neck represents flexibility and the capacity to look around and back, with respect for oneself.

The back of the neck, the nape, is the most yang part of the neck, and the one that is most affected by excessively yang behaviours. The front part, where the larynx, the trachea, the throat and the vocal cords are located, is affected by excessively yin behaviours.

People who store up anger have chronic tension on their shoulders, neck and arms. If you wish, see Anger.

Neck related problems can occur in the muscles (see Stiff neck), in the bones (see Cervical vertebrae) or in the skin (see Skin).
