Bowel - Large Bowel
Published on Digestive system.
This is the sixth and final segment of the digestive canal. It belongs to the metal element of the five elements of eastern philosophy. It is divided into ascending colon, transverse colon, descending colon, sigmoid, upper rectum, lower rectum, and anus.
The large bowel is the realm of the underworld, of the unconscious, where the fermentation and death of food takes place, and waste is ‘buried’, expelled. Problems in the large bowel show the body exposing the person’s underworld.
By defecating, the person is marking his identity, not his territory (when the person urinates he marks his territory). Most symptoms of the large bowel are pointed out in the rubrics:
- Large bowel – anus
- Bowel – large bowel – colic
- Bowel – large bowel – ulcerative colitis
- Bowel – large bowel – Colon
- Bowel – large bowel – ascending colon
- Bowel – large bowel – descending colon
- Bowel – large bowel – descending colon – sigmoid
- Bowel – large bowel – transverse colon
- Bowel – large bowel – amoebic dysentery
- Bowel – large bowel – bacillary dysentery
- Bowel – large bowel – Crohn’s disease
- Bowel – large bowel – lower rectum
- Bowel – large bowel – upper rectum
